Equinox, New Moon, Solar Eclipse... What Does It Mean For Us?

It can’t only be me who is fascinated by the way this Earth of ours lives inside the Universe. She is resilient and shining despite the way we treat her, always holding our best interests at heart even when we fail to show her the respect she deserves.
COSMIC EVENTS
Today, Earth and Sky are in a dance that some say is impacting us. Some people can feel it. I love the metaphor, and the more I trust my intuition, the more I feel the invitation of these cosmic events.First: yesterday, on September 21st, a partial solar eclipse obscured the sun - the last eclipse of 2025. They say it blew the door wide open, offering us the chance to claim our power once and for all. The Universe is making something clear: the time for waiting until you’re “ready” is over.Second: the New Moon, invisible from Earth, marking the darkest night that begins to grow light again. An invitation into new beginnings, fresh starts, and transformation.Third: the Fall Equinox, a moment of balance when day and night are equal across the globe. This year it arrives September 22 at 11:19 am MT, bringing spring to the Southern Hemisphere and autumn to the Northern. As we move through these cosmic events, the world is shifting, and asking us to change with her. If we listen and trust this invitation - feeling it intuitively as well as seeing it reflected in the season’s stunning beauty - we stay in the flow of the natural cycle. When we pause to ask the Sister Science question, “What do I need right now?” sometimes the answer is small and immediate - a drink of water, a pee, a warm sweater. But sometimes we need to drop a pin in where we truly are.
WRAP UP SUMMER SEASON
The summer qualities of hot, sharp, fleshy, oily, spreading are wrapping up. The way summer invited us to stretch out, happily and lazily, sweating in a lawn chair by the water, offering plump fruit ready to be picked from the tree, warm sunny evenings that beg for you to stay outside longer. Summer has a relaxed vibe, shedding routines, and chilling. As our Pitta season comes to a close, what did you notice about yourself - your body, energy, sleep, nourishment, relationships, fulfillment? What do you now know about YOU in summer?
- What Happened in you this summer?
- Why is that Important to note?
- What now?
FORTIFY FOR FALL
As fall arrives, your body shifts with the cooler, drier, lighter qualities of the season. Nature asks us to rebalance by grounding, returning to routine, and building an inner fire to replace the sun’s warmth.
What is this innate feeling that draws us to routine?Circadian Rhythm is what I hear it called the most right now, and in my Yoga circles it is simply known as Ayurveda - the ancient life science of following nature’s cycles. Fall is a shift from But fall sweeps in with a different energy—things dry out, leaves flutter to the ground and crunch underfoot, the sun sets earlier and darkness replaces those golden late evenings. The air sharpens, cool and crisp. Warm sweaters and socks get pulled out of the closet again. And our bodies—wise as ever - react to these cues. Just as squirrels instinctively gather and store food, our nervous system longs for more rhythm, more grounding, more steadiness. We know. Deep in our bones, we know.
Advances in technology have spared us from many of nature’s hardships. We don’t have to gather, harvest, preserve, or adapt in quite the same way anymore. We can flip on a light, open the fridge, order in food, or scroll through screens long into the night. The luxuries of our modern lifestyle let us ignore nature’s signals if we choose. But even for those of us with no garden to harvest or lawn furniture to put away, the body still knows. We can still feel the transition of the season. And if we allow ourselves to listen, to fall into its sweet rhythm, we will experience the ease and balance that Ayurveda has always promised.
Fall is an invitation. It is nature whispering: slow down, steady yourself, align with me.
This season is a chance to come back to routines that restore rather than drain, to rituals that warm, nourish, and ground. Warm teas, earlier bedtimes, heartier soups, a few minutes of quiet in the morning before the world wakes up.We can fight against this invitation and spin ourselves into “September busy” until the holidays knock us over. Or we can say yes to nature’s gentle nudge and let fall feel calm instead of crazy. So, let me ask you:
- What rhythm is your body craving right now?
- What small shift could help you feel more at home in this season?
- How can you accept the invitation of these cosmic events?
- What wants to begin?
This is what we’re holding space for at Sister Science. If you feel the nudge to follow nature’s invitation and you sense we align, drop in. We always go further together.
Watch for our Seasonal Cleanse coming right after Thanksgiving!
Until then...Fortify. Gather what you’ll need for winter. Commit to the project that will sustain you, fuel your fire, and carry you through the cold months ahead.
