Inside Yoga Teacher Training
Jan 19, 2026
Our Yoga Teacher Training group met for their 4th weekend. This is our 3rd cohort, and each time we are blown away at what we witness. The truth is what you have to offer this world is YOUR own medicine. You are meant to offer it, and when you do, it will heal you.
Quoting the Gospel of Thomas:
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”
What’s unfolding in this course feels important and I want to give it words:
Two things are happening at once:
We are layering in the Yoga tools that build Ojas; strength, steadiness, capacity. At the same time peeling back the layers/patterns/beliefs that keep people from shining their light.
It’s a delicate balancing act.
Like carefully building your new boat before you jump out of the old one.
The tools of Yoga require practice.
You don’t just learn them - you pick them up again and again, feel your way into them, learn the nuances, the shortcuts, the “ohhh that’s how this works” moments. You put in the reps until the tools stop feeling foreign and start feeling like yours.
And on the other side of these reps…
Our aim is not to create teachers who simply repeat what they’ve been taught.
We are here to support teachers who teach from their own wisdom, who let their light shine - and in doing so, give others permission to do the same.
But letting your light shine isn’t passive work.
It often means buffing away the gunk.
Scraping off the layers of conditioning, doubt, people-pleasing, and old stories that keep that light hidden.
That kind of work is brave.
And it’s vulnerable.
Our Teacher Training does both at once.
Some things ours new teachers said this weekend:
“I've never felt like I known myself so well (better than ever), but at the same time, feel like I know nothing about myself. It's uncomfortable.”
another teacher said:
"I keep telling myself I don't know myself and have to do more work, I need more information. But I actually do see myself, and now I need to take responsibility for what I see and know".
or this:
"I am processing, watching my patterns be triggered and play out in real time. Witnessing myself, its a lot."
This is the edge. It is the the doorway into fully accepting who you are and living from your wisdom. It is a powerful place, not for the faint of heart.
Life is asking a lot of us right now. It’s asking us to step into our power, our clarity, our responsibility.
Doing this kind of work alone - while maybe not impossible - is really, really hard.
What we see every time we offer this training is that the safe container of community changes everything. It becomes a playground for new patterns. A place to shed old beliefs. A space where people try on their superhero cape that is, honestly, their birthright.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to witness this process unfold: the bravery, the tenderness, the encouragement, the new voices experimenting with how they show up in the world - and noticing how it feels when they let themselves shine.
If something in this is stirring in you, I want you to listen to that. This work lives at the heart of everything we do at Sister Science.
For now, just notice what’s being asked of you?
- What is inviting you forward?
- What old patterns are sucking you back?
- What might your next small step be?
If this kind of process feels like what you are wanting, we should talk. The choice feels a bit life or death in our current world, the old ways crumbling and we can die clinging to them, or we can find a more resourced way to walk through this world. The challenge - no one can do it for you.
But we can.. if you let us... do it with you.
xoxo
