The Root - A Guided Meditation

In our Sister Science Human Design course, our teacher Chelsey Beda has been weaving embodiment practices into each lesson, ensuring that we’re not just consuming information but feeling it in our bodies.

This is the vision of learning here at Sister Science.
We want everything to be felt in the body, understood in the cells.
It’s how we reawaken the Divine Feminine, the Yin energy, that is consistently being wrung out of our modern world.

When we take time to attune to our sensed experience, something magical happens:
A deeper level of understanding opens. One that goes beyond cognition.
We may not be able to explain it with logic, but we know it.

This is our mission, to reclaim knowing through the body. We practice embodiment.
We remember that stillness is presence.

Guided Meditation: The Root

This 8-minute guided meditation was created by Chelsey Beda for our Human Design course and is read by me, Jill Novak. It invites you to connect to your Root - located at the base of your spine, it represents the foundation of your safety, security, and sense of belonging.

The Root is where we meet the earth element, the colour red, and the feelings of grounded stability and trust in life itself. It is the part of you that whispers:

“You are safe. You are supported. You belong.”

LISTEN NOW: Take 8 minutes. Press play. Experience the connection for yourself. Feel your life force, chant the seed sound LAM, whisper the mantra “I am grounded. I am safe. I am held.”

Remember: True movement is born in stillness, and joy is the quiet embodiment of life itself.

Understanding the Root Through Sister Sciences

When we explore embodiment through multiple traditions, we start to see how truth echoes across them all. Each one pointing us toward the same grounding intelligence of life.

Human Design
The Root is one of the nine Centres  - your motor, your internal pressure system, your source of adrenaline and momentum. About 60% of people have steady access to this internal fuel, transforming pressure into purposeful action. The other 40% amplify the Root energy of those around them.

YOGA: Chakras

The base Chakra, MuladharaMula" means root and "adhara" means support or base, so the name literally means "root support"

YOGA: Bandhas

One of 5 energy locks in the body, the Mula Bandha, the gentle contraction and upward lift of the pelvic floor. Used for core stabilization, physical lightness in poses, and in pranayama to prevent energy from escaping downwards. Will increase focus, improved balance, and calm the nervous system.

Ayurveda
Here, we meet Apana Vayu - the downward and outward flow of energy. It governs elimination, release, and letting go  -  physically, mentally, emotionally. When Apana flows smoothly, we feel clear, grounded, and stable.

As we move into the Fall and Winter seasons, Nature herself calls us to ground.
To slow.
To release what’s unnecessary and root back into what’s real.

Across every lineage, Human Design, Yoga, Ayurveda, the Root shows up again and again to remind us:

We are safe. We are held. We belong.

Experience Embodiment for Yourself

This meditation is just one example of how we bring theory into the body in our Sister Science courses. Whether you’re exploring Human Design, Ayurveda, or Yoga -  every lesson invites you to feel, not just think. Join us, start with the Year of YOU!

Because true understanding doesn’t live in your mind,
it lives in your body, your breath, your Root!
